Etched across the sandstone cliffs of northern Saudi Arabia, these magnificent petroglyphs date back more than 8,000 years, to the Neolithic period when the Arabian Peninsula was greener and teeming with life. Found in sites such as Shuwaymis and Jubbah, they depict camels, horse riders, and hunting scenes that reveal the deep bond between humans and the desert.

Carved using stone chisels and abrasion techniques, these figures display extraordinary realism and motion—the curves of a camel’s neck, the rhythm of riders in pursuit. They stand as one of the earliest artistic expressions of domestication and mobility in Arabia, capturing the transformation of human life from foraging to herding.
