The Hrad Helfštýn Czechia 🇨🇿

Helfštýn (or Helfštejn, Czech: Helfštýn, German: Helfenstein) is the ruins of a castle located in the village of Týn nad Bečvou, near the town of Lipník nad Bečvou, in the Přerov District, Olomouc Region, Czech Republic. The structure is listed as a cultural monument of the Czech Republic. The castle was built in the early 14th century. The first owner of the castle was probably the noble Friduš of Linava. In the following centuries, the castle belonged mainly to several Moravian noble families, such as the Sovinecs, Kosteks of Postupice, Pernštejn, Ludanice and the Bruntálští z Vrbna family. During the Thirty Years' War, the fortified castle withstood sieges twice. The Danish army of General Mansfeld (1626) and the Swedish army of General Torstenson (1643) failed to conquer Helfštýn Castle. However, after the Seven Years' War, the military significance of the castle gradually declined. In the 18th century, the then owners of the estate, the Dietrichstein family, dismantled and abandoned the castle. From the mid-19th century to the present, Helfštýn Castle has been continuously repaired and reconstructed to develop tourism. The most recent restoration of the castle took place in 2017 - 2020.
