The Château de Pesteils France 🇫🇷

The Pesteils Castle, formerly the Polminhac Fortress, is a medieval castle located in Polminhac in Cantal. Pesteils Castle is located on a rocky promontory overlooking the village of Polminhac and the Cère Valley. The 40 m high keep dates from the end of the Middle Ages, 14th and 15th centuries, at the beginning of the Hundred Years' War. During the second half of the 17th century, the main building and the corner pavilion were enlarged. At the end of the 19th century, Anatole and then his son Gabriel de Miramon carried out major works, carried out by the Cantal architect Émile Lemaigre, which gave the castle its current layout. The interior decorations of the ground floor were remodeled in the neo-Gothic style, very beautiful double-revolution staircase in the entrance hall. 15th century frescoes located in the dungeon were restored in 2008 (Sotheby's prize), 17th century painted ceilings, scenes from Greek mythology, adorn two rooms located on the 1st floor of the main building. An old kitchen, restored in 2000, received the La Cornue prize. Wall paintings from the first quarter of the 20th century by Félix Tourdes (1855-1920) have been classified as a historical monument as an object since 1980. The park of the Château de Pesteils was redesigned at the beginning of the 20th century. It includes a terrace on the ground floor, a vegetable garden and an orchard. It has been included in the pre-inventory of remarkable gardens.
