Bodies Remain as Landmarks Due to the extreme difficulty of recovering bodies, many deceased climbers remain on the mountain. Some even serve as markers along the route. 9. Everest Is Visible from Space At 8,848.86 meters, Everest is tall enough to be spotted from space, making it an iconic geographical feature on Earth visible to astronauts. 10.
