Treasury of Atreus (Tomb of Agamemnon) - Greece

The Treasury of Atreus, near Mycenae, is a marvel of Mycenaean engineering from around 1250 BC. Although often called the ❝Tomb of Agamemnon❞, its true occupant remains unknown. One of its most astonishing features is a massive lintel stone above the entrance, weighing an estimated 120 tons—an incredible feat given the absence of modern machinery. Inside, the tomb boasts a perfectly corbelled dome, soaring nearly 45 feet high and 47 feet across, holding the record for the largest dome for over a millennium. Though it was looted in antiquity, its association with legends like Agamemnon cements its place in the imagination. Today, the Treasury stands as a timeless testament to the craftsmanship and ingenuity of the Mycenaeans.
