Mastaura – Aydın Province, Turkey

In the hills of western Turkey, archaeologists uncovered something no one expected — a 1,800-year-old Roman arena buried beneath centuries of soil. 🏛️ Near the ancient city of Mastaura in Aydın Province, this massive amphitheater dates to around A.D. 200, during the Severan Dynasty. It could once seat up to 20,000 spectators, who gathered to watch gladiator battles and wild animal fights in a city that’s now long forgotten. Its walls, still standing in remarkable condition, reveal a time when even small Roman towns echoed with the roar of the crowd. #AncientRome #Archaeology #TurkeyHistory #RomanEmpire #AncientWorld #FewLook
